Burns is a very common problem occurring in our day to day life,especially in women.It is caused by dry heat or wet heat,or chemicals or electric burns.
Burns is a coagulative necrosis of layers of skin due to thermal heat.
Germinal epithelium is a layer from which skin is devloped daily and is between dermis and epidermis. Depending upon the depth of burns & Continuity of Germinal epithelium,there are two types of burns,superficial and deep.
- Move away a patient from the accident place.
- Keep the burned part under cool water till pain becomes less.
- Wrap the burned part with clean cloth.
- Remove gently burned clothes, rings & bangles
- Give Lots of water or squash to the patient.
- Give good Moral support to the patient & shift to the hospital immediately.
These are burns above the germinal epithelium.They are caused by hot liquids like water or oil.They are painful.They are pink or red in colour and may be with blisters or blebs.Normally these bunrs do not require skin grafting and usually heal in 2 to 3 weeks.
These burns are below the germinal epithelium and can involve subcutaneous tissue as well.They are due to direct fire, chemicals.They are painless.They are white or black in colour and may be charred.These burns require skin grafting. They usually heal in 4 to 6 weeks.
